I started a new program last Wednesday called 22 Minute Hard Corps. The entire program is based on military training – push-ups, pull-ups, burpees, squats, etc. It’s taking me back to my high school gym class days! I really like it so far. We transition between resistance training and cardio.
Since I started last Wednesday, my rest day will be this Tuesday. (There’s usually a rest day once every 7 days.) I had an extremely busy weekend, and my rest days would normally fall on a Sunday. I was extremely worried about this weekend, because I tend to find every excuse in the book when it’s time to workout during a busy weekend. My motto? Get up and get it done. I always try to work out first thing in the morning, before I even have time to think of an excuse not to do it.
I was out of town this weekend and had an extremely late night last night, so I actually slept until the minute I had to get ready to leave the hotel this morning. I had a 4 hour drive home too, so of course I had 4 hours to come up with excuses.
I didn’t skip my workout. I got it done the minute I got home from my trip. Today was Day 5, which was a combination of Cardio 2 and Core 1 for a total 32 minute workout. I was dripping in sweat. There were burpees, squats, jumps… You name it, I had to do it. I felt so amazing and proud of myself when I was done. I truly couldn’t believe I stayed consistent after the weekend I’d had.
I ate a lot… I was staying at a hotel casino, so, of course, I had a buffet for dinner Saturday night. To me, buffets mean load up on the desserts. You’d pay $8 per slice for cheesecake at any other restaurant… So I had 3 slices with my dinner this weekend. HA! Should I feel bad? Maybe. Do I feel bad? No. I love cheesecake, and I work hard every other day of the week so I don’t have to feel bad about eating it. I also had vegetables, don’t worry 🙂
I hope to have more to say later, but I wanted to type a quick blurb about this weekend.
